Sunday in London was great, weather was mostly dry, warm and sunny although by the time we were heading home the heavens had opened and we got wet.
Tate Modern was interesting, some of the works I loved and others I just didn't get but I'd definitely go again. A few of the pieces that I remember and loved include; Thirty Pieces of Silver" by Cornelia Parker, 480x10x10 2002 Soap and stainless steel object by Miroslaw Balka - a sculpture consisting of used bars of soap held together by a stainless steel rope hanging from the ceiling, Jackson Pollack's Summertime Number 9A, Gerhard Richter's Cage paintings and Anish Kapoor's Ishi's Light. The turbine Hall was spectacular in it's own right.
The Millennium Bridge was interesting to photograph and I loved the view of St Paul's in the background.
Next it was on to the London Eye, wow what a ride.
Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament
Im fascination for 'living' sculptures and this fella caught my eye as he seemed content for the pigeon to climb all over him, the perfect perch in fact.
Hannah and I deposited Jon in Costa's for a cuppa and a sit whilst Hannah hit the shops with me in tow. We found 'Beyond Retro' a vintage clothes shop that Hannah had been longing to find but it was a disappointment, often the way when you have such high expectations. Personally it looked like most of the stuff had just come out of a whole load of bin bags and most of it I wouldn't give wardrobe space even if they were giving away rather than charging a fortune for their 'vintage' items. Guess I'm not hip and trendy enough to get it!
We had wanted to go to Aldeburgh later in the week but the weatherman said Monday was to be the best day of the week and we didn't want to miss out on a sea side walk and the opportunity to enjoy a fish & chips supper on the beach. Hazel, Peter and the boys joined us, in fact we had a great time, I didn't get any photos of fish & chip supper but I can report that it was delicious and can share a few photos from the afternoon. Just look at Matthew's ice cream it's nearly as big as him!
Tuesday was the 12th and I take part in 12 on the 12th bit like Shimelles Scrap Your Day project but I find this more manageable, I took photos but nothing earth shattering. I'll share the LO when it's done.
